Brighten up what the weather guessers are forecasting to be a rather glum weekend with the New York Botanical Garden’s Orchid Show. The theme for its 17th year is the southeast Asian island of Singapore. The exhibit shows how Singapore has led the way in the cultivation, research, and conservation of its national flower and gives the colorful and fragrant plants a dramatic backdrop of supertrees and arches, much like the surroundings found in the Singapore Botanic Garden.
The annual NYBG Orchid Show runs until April 28, and can be visited during regular hours as well as on “Orchid Evenings”–special nights for adults only that include a display of lights, dancers and DJs, and Singapore Slings. Orchid Evening dates are March 16, 23, 30 and April 5, 6, 12, 13, 19, 20, 26, 27 from 7-10pm. Choose from a 7, 7:30, or 8pm entry time.
